The Miami Valley Kids Wrestling Association was founded by Mark Gerhard. It is in the second largest USA Wrestling affiliated league in the country. Today, MVKWA is home to over 3000 wrestlers across about 80 clubs. It organizes weekend meets for member clubs. The league is designed as an entry point for wrestlers of all ages. While great wrestling experience can be had within the MVKWA meets, there are outside experiences which offer higher levels of competition. We encourage and facilitate our wrestlers participation in those opportunities when ready.
Organizations such as OHWAY (Ohio Wrestling Association for Youth) and OAC (Ohio Athletic Committee) offer tournament experiences for wrestlers who would like to push toward an additional challenge. Both organizations offer state level tournaments with district qualifying tournaments. These tournaments are for experienced wrestlers who work outside of regular PWC practices. At least one of the organizations offers novice divisions which are open to wrestlers with less than 3 years of experience and have not previously qualified for a state tournament.
Dates for these tournaments will be posted to our schedule. If you think your wrestler is ready and interested in participating in extra tournaments outside of our MVKWA Schedule, please speak with a coach for more information.
After the Folkstyle season wraps up, Freestyle and Greco Roman season begins. Patriot Wrestling Club does offer instruction during that time and encourage interested wrestlers to compete in tournaments for those styles as well if interested!
